The Shell Houston open gets started bright and early on Friday as players tee-off at 7:20 a.m. The Shell Houston Open Live is this week, held at the Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course from March 29th to April 4th, and this tournament is unique in the fact that since being played in 1999, there have been eight winners that were from outside the United States, with Australia leading the pack as the nation that takes this tournament consistently.

The schedule is as follows: Monday begins the Pro-Am, with Tuesday being the first day of the practice. Thursday, April 1st is going to be the first round of the tournament, and then round two is the second day. The final round is Sunday, April 4th. The Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course is a Par 72 and is 7,457 yards long, being built in 2003 and having seen some great golf even in its short life span. This course was designed specifically to host a PGA tournament like the Shell Houston Open.

The Shell Houston Open will happen at the Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course which is located in Humble, Texas, and while this tournament is followed by an even bigger one, it is huge in its own right with an amazing field and a giant prize purse of $5,900,000. It will take place from March 31st to April 3rd and the defending champion, who will be back this year is Anthony Kim, taking home 500 points towards the FedEx Cup and a check for $1,044,000. Vaughn Taylor took runner up last year with -12 and Charl Schwartzel came in third with 11 under.

The field for this event is made up of some great players and they will be competing for a grand prize of over a million dollars with a total prize purse of five point eight million dollars. Some notables on the field this year include Ernie Els, Geoff Ogilvy, Ryan Palmer, Ben Crane, Paul Casey and Vijay Singh just to name a few of the great players on the field.
